So last night we attended the Marie Claire Trunk Show at the Cape Town City Hall… It was a splendour of young designers showcasing their new collections, not only in clothing but in shoes and all accessories too. The hall was a perfect venue for such a show as there are so many rooms leading into one another that just when you think you’ve seen it all, wait! There’s more!
Along with all the designers, the junction was partnered with JC Le Roux. We received free champagne at the door and as part of the fun, you were encouraged to take a photo with your champagne and use the hashtag #jcleroux and they would then receive your photos on their system and you could print them on the spot as a keepsake for the evening.
There were performing acts such as Al Bairre & Sideshow and the Christian Tiger School and there were many wonderful food stands where I ate such delicious chicken curry from Authentic Dish! There was also a section dedicated to Bos Ice Tea showcasing a number of “Designer” cans.
I was so thoroughly impressed by what was available that I couldn’t help but splurge and buy myself something! My mother bought herself something too so we both got spoiled by ourselves last night! I bought a gorgeous perfect-for-summer crop top and high waisted trousers combo from a designer brand called Strada Chic, as well as a pair of awesome sunglasses from iamtrend For my mother, she went with something wintery and bought a lovely faux fur waist coat from the Brand Five Legends. There were so many great items to choose from, I loved that it truly was as it stated: A trunk show. The clothing was all featured on rails and here was even a designer who went very literal and showcased a few items in an actual old trunk suitcase!
Overall it was a wonderful night that I would love to experience again!
