At long last, we come to the end of “The Fashion Alphabet” and I am happy to make this post. As I ran through the alphabet, sharing different facets of the fashion world it was exciting to learn and share with the rest of you.
For the last post in this series, I will bring home. We’ll take a brief look at the few designers who are home grown, who make us proud to be South African.
Today, we’ll take a brief look at…
ZA Fashion Designers
For those who don’t know – South African designers are exceptionally talented. They are unique in their style and their view on fashion, how they manipulate fabric and print, how they interpret an inspiration. Each designer is an individual and while they might work with a whole team, it is his their heritage and a shared love for creating something beautiful that makes them wonderful.
To mention but a few, as there are way too many to list and discuss, below we see just a handful of my favourite local designers.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York 2015
Malcolm Kluk and Christiaan Gabriël Du Toit
Summer ‘Guilty Pleasures’
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2015
SPRING SUMMER 2015/16
And while there is an unending multitude of South African talent that is currently blooming, there is so much promising talent yet to come. I know this because I get to work with them all. Young designers in South Africa are preparing themselves to show the world what they are made of and I am exceptionally proud to be a part of this fashion world.
Overall, I hope this series has been enlightening and as entertaining for everyone as it has been for me.
Coming soon, I will be showcasing a few throwbacks to events that have happened over the past few months that are hopefully going to shape my fashion future.
