The Leigh Schubert Show:
The show began with this black and white video, of different images flowing into one another. The show was filled with Macy Gray music, it was so edgy and vibrant.
The designer, Leigh Schubert is a Durban based designer, who started her own collection in 2002. She is the first South African designer to have showcased her work at Australian Fashion week.
The collection was very sporty, all the models wearing sneakers. The women all had bouncy curled hair that just gave the look and added extra to the look. The garments featured this great pattern and was developed through both the men’s and Womenswear items. The collection was primarily black and white with pops of colour like yellow and red. The menswear featured dropped crotches and were tailored to the knee. There was a few items that were silver and almost floral, in both men’s and women’s items. There was a great red cape, as well as longer length shirts for women.
The progression of the looks were perfect, showing absolute versatility in the designer’s skill set, the looks were trendy and very ready to wear. One could take the item straight off the runway and wear it.
